More than 100 reporters, Congressional staff, company representatives, and others attended an April 16, 1997 press conference to launch USA*ENGAGE.




National Foreign Trade Council President Frank Kittredge, who led the press conference, joins others in looking on as Caterpillar Inc. Chairman and CEO Donald V. Fites delivers remarks.




C. Fred Bergsten, Director of the Institute for International Econcomics, presents findings that economic sanctions cost US exporters $15 to $20 billion annually in lost sales.




Senator Richard G. Lugar (R-Indiana) lauds USA*ENGAGE for its efforts to promote US engagement overseas.




Representative Lee H. Hamilton (D-Indiana) warns about the potentially harmful long term effects of unilateral US sanctions.
